My Journey Can Wait - For Today

What I realized today, when necessary, my own reflections and journey, need to be put on the backburner. For those who know me, you may not agree. You may argue that I need to be selfish.

You may be thinking, "Here we go again."

But I vehemently disagree. A compassionate person who cares deeply always has space to ponder the pain of others. Walk in their footsteps, consider their struggle, and be ready and willing to pick up the pieces. All of them. Little pieces, big pieces, and the pieces they can't carry alone.

Yes, someone I love is struggling. The kind of person you only meet once in a lifetime. A dear friend.

Am I responsible for orchestrating a fix? Sadly, no. Because if I could, I would.

I would be the umbrella in the rainstorm, the mechanic who changes the tire, and the one who buys plum wine.... even the second glass.

To say I am grateful for having a friend who shows me each day, life is going to be okay, props me up when things are unbearable, and gives fully, without demanding anything in return - well that's an understatement.

So, for today. my journey is about empathy for others and still being true to myself. I care and I always will. And caring isn't a sacrifice, or a disregard of my needs. It's who I am.

Finding a balance. That is my journey.

This counts.

I think the big thing in this is that you can be there for others at the same time as being there for yourself.
