Taking Risks - Not My Thing
A risk. Just the thought of it makes my chest tighten and my heart beat a little faster. Some say, "No risk, no reward."
But what if your only thoughts about taking a leap, letting go and putting faith before fear are shear panic. And when I say panic, I mean the terror ridden feeling that your heart may stop, your lungs may collapse, and you may find youself embarrassingly laying on the floor trying to recalibrate all bodily functions relating to staying upright.
Today I met someone. A pilot. She goes to work every day and finds herself 32,000 feet in the sky. Surrounded by turquoise skies, ominous clouds, raging rains; and bears the responsibilty of cushioning our ride, making us feel safe, ensuring our beverages don't color the ceiling above us.
What do I do? I buy a box of JuJy Fruits and worry if I will get all red and yellow. What if there are no black and orange? Should I leave the box on the shelf? Why do they always have so many red and yellow? Who likes red and yellow anyway? And I tell myself, it's only a couple of dollars.
I will risk it.
Yes, I realize how ridiculous this sounds.
And that counts.
